STAGE ACTING WS WITH MARK McGANN - MERLIN THEATRE, FROME - 10am - 5pm, Sunday 8th September 2024

Hi All,

Booking is now open for our next Stage Acting WS at the Merlin Theatre.

Following the fantastic response to our previous Play in a Day offering, the focus for this next class will be another rehearsed reading and exploration of the recent National Theatre and West End hit 'THE MOTIVE AND THE CUE':

*****

'Unmissably extraordinary. Two acting titans dazzle in a love letter to theatre' Telegraph

*****

'Intimate yet epic in the way we long for from theatre yet rarely get' The Times

*****

'A brilliant new play' The Financial Times

A fierce and funny new play by Jack Thorne, offering a glimpse into the politics of a rehearsal room and the relationship between art and celebrity.

Plot: 1964: Richard Burton, newly married to Elizabeth Taylor, is to play the title role in an experimental new Broadway production of Hamlet under John Gielgud’s exacting direction.

But as rehearsals progress, two ages of theatre collide and the collaboration between actor and director soon threatens to unravel.

The hugely celebrated production of The Motive and the Cue transfered to the West End last December for a limited 15 weeks run following a sold-out run at the National Theatre.

The Motive and the Cue is inspired by Letters from an Actor by William Redfield and John Gielgud Directs Richard Burton in Hamlet by Richard L. Sterne.

Come and explore the experience of working with our generous and supportive actors on this great play and gain invaluable insight into the actor's process. Fun, exciting, educational and deeply stimulating.

Price *£90 class fee (includes lunch)
