Hi All,
Some of you may have noticed the name Jon Barnett attached to the lyrics or music of some new songs. I have been mentoring Jon for the last three years. He is a polymath who writes and performs and we have been collaborating on various songs, poems, stories and acting projects.
I want to play you a song that we developed together around an narrative idea of his called Plastic Soldiers. Hopefully it'll make its way into the pool of material for our next project together. If you enjoy it, perhaps you can leave a message and I'll pass it on to Jon. As a young artist looking to make his first in-roads into the entertainment industry, it would mean a lot to him.
Here's the song and lyrics, see what you think...
Love and light,

Plastic Soldiers
I’m green from head to toe plastic stand no room to grow
moulded from the get-go knowing that my life has been decreed
set for frontline infantry
and my rifle is a part of me fused into my palm
want to wave can only harm
the storm before the calm
I'm a means unto an end
it's no longer play pretend
We're only plastic soldiers
pieces of a larger game
struck from the table
no one knows our name
They parade us through the street
past a crowd of cheering toys cheering on those brave young boys a war to end all wars
who wouldn’t kill for a lie?
the greatest pie up in the sky?
Before they ship me out to parts unknown I see a doll playing' home
a life of love
a love I wish I'd known
but I was made not grown
We’re only plastic soldiers
pieces of a larger game
struck from the table
no one knows our name

Love this! 😊
That has a sort of 60s vibe, a bit Everly-brothers-esque, very pleasing to the ear! Xx
Thanks guys, that's stuck in my head now. 👍
