Our third publicly-funded professional creative community project to inspire, involve and integrate.
Dear All,
Just a brief update to let you know that the Kickstarter Campaign for our new collaborative professional music album project SHARED NOT OWNED, will go live on Thursday April 27th.
If you were involved in the last music project and/or the film of the same name (Perplexed Music) we would dearly love you to be involved again as a long-valued member of our team, to help us once again create something truly inspirational and of lasting value for all. All collaborators will have the opportunity to participate in the creative and production process, fully informed and regularly involved as we work through the creative stages required to produce a product of the highest integrity and standard for public consumption. At every stage, discussion and collaboration between backers and team members is just a part of what makes these projects so memorable and moving.
The pool of new songs for the album currently stands at twelve new compositions, all written either by Mark McGann or by Mark in collaboration with Jon Barnett an exciting new young composer. The idea will be once again to attempt to provide a high quality eclectic song list of various classic genres including pop, soul, rock, funk, reggae, folk, gospel etc., that satisfies a variety of tastes and reflects the plurality that is central to the ethos of these projects. We will also ask you once again to decide which 10 songs make the final cut, and also which order you feel they should appear on the album. As with our last project, there will be various rewards offered for pledges that vary from backstage passes at the launch concert to a visit to the recording studio when in session, as well as numerous other production credits and uniquely creative experiences.
In addition to our house band (pictured below) who all performed on the Perplexed Music Album, we will once again invite established artistes to solo and feature on different tracks to maximise eclecticism. A number of wonderful artists have come forward to offer their services including Boz Boorer, Claire Martin, Reid Anderson, Andy Newmark, Steve Zodiac to name but a few. The plan is to record in July with an album launch concert towards the end of the year to coincide with the album release.

So watch out for further details as they become available, and please, if you enjoyed the experience of being a part of our creative team on previous projects, or perhaps missed out and wish to become involved this time, please pledge and spread the word to maximise wider awareness of our upcoming campaign. As you know we only proceed if the target is reached and so all your support is vital and truly appreciated.
Team PMers: This is a shout out to you all to dust off your pre-pandemic memories/merch and join us once again to create something that represents another truly joint expression of the elevating power of community.
Here are some of the comments from our team members of past projects:
I'd never been part of a project like this before; every milestone and award PM has made has felt like a personal victory; watching it grow from an idea into reality has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had the pleasure of being part of! Courtney LeCount
I have always loved the Arts and being a part of Perplexed Music I feel that we all made this exciting project happen and the Awards that have been won prove it and I look forward to being involved further with the second chapter with Perplexed Music,The Album. Peter Thomas
To see a beautiful idea grow and blossom...made me feel proud to be a part of it. I could never have imagined being involved in a project like this, it's been a wonderful experience. Thank you. Jenny Shirt
I have loved being a part of Team PM, from watching the film in London at the BFI in December to seeing it win award after award this year on the International Stage. Looking forward to hearing the CD now! Sue Kennedy
It was a wonderful and unique experience to be able to see a project blossom from humble early stages...and to be involved in this journey every step of the way was nothing short of thrilling. Betty Anne Noir
There are so many projects out there but to find one with a unique message and brilliant team is rare... My goals to create and uplift are shared by every member of Team PM. Catherine Curtis
was a complete crowd funding/Kickstarter virgin at the start of this process. I wanted to be involved firstly because of the subject matter - having lost both my parents in the last 5 years - and secondly because I have known Mark, Paul and the rest of the McGann clan since childhood and wanted to help them realise their vision. Karen Wade
As an Aussie, I have derived so much pleasure from being a part of the fabulous Team PM from so far away. The success...has been a huge bonus and I thank you for the opportunity to participate Mark. Ronwyn Meg Hart
Being a Team PMer has made me feel more connected to the human race by conversing with others about universal topics such as of art, love and loss. I have loved every second of the journey so far and can't wait to get started on the next chapter in this beautiful story of collective will and collaborative creativity. Lyn Blasby
I've so loved being a part of this project, you've made me feel such a valued member of "the team". Congratulations on your success. Judy Law
It has been a absolute pleasure to be involved in this meaningful project; Mark has been responsive and inclusive throughout and kept us informed all the way. Esther Bloom
I've always believed it our responsibility to try to make a difference in the part of the world specifically entrusted to us. Supporting Mark and his team as they brought a dream into reality was therefore hugely gratifying and Team PM a reminder that a truly united community can produce something really special. I think...the album will touch hearts just as the film has, helping struggling people to realise that they really are not alone and that for me makes it all worthwhile. Heather Skull
Having been previously rather skeptical about crowd-funding projects I was captivated by the universality of the themes and personal connection I felt to this project. Knowing Mark's work and expertise further encouraged me to come on board. It hasn't disappointed. It has been a journey beyond anything I ever imagined. The end result is the most amazingly, beautiful and heart-wrenching production. In addition, I have made some beautiful new friends and the adventure is just beginning! Will I be investing in the next phase? Of course I will. Would I have invested if I hadn't known and trusted the people behind the project? Possibly not. Is the next phase of the project worth investment? Just look at the success of Perplexed Music, the stunning tracks that will be recorded, the sensational artists and the team behind it. Then make up your own mind just like I did. You really won't be disappointed. Malcolm Palmer
That’s wonderful news Mark. How can I not participate again especially with the same superb line up. I look forward to Thursday 27th April and once again being part of something magical. I love the Title. Shared not owned. What a lovely world this planet could be if we all shared it instead of greedy people that say they own the world
Great that this is getting off the ground, I am sure that this project will have the same momentum as the earlier ones. Xx
Let's go!!! Now it feels like the adventure has started. Can't wait for this to happen.
Hi Hayley, yes, the world has been through some extraordinary changes since we last collaborated together. Let's hope that we are once again reminded of what really matters as the connectivity of music affects its universal magic! Mark xxx
Ooooh, really looking forward to pledging to this, hopefully I can pledge more than I did for PM. I love that you and the gang are back together again. I look at the last few years, as an act of discovery of who we are, where we belong, and this brand new world we have stepped into.
